Shop with attention, otherwise you fall into the trap
Supermarkets try to distract us in various ways. This article describes some important points that you should definitely pay attention to when you go shopping again. If you pay attention to it, you can save a lot of money!
- An attractive entrance
Your senses are lambasted into happiness with the aromas of beaked bread, freshy cut flowers and the colorful sights of the produce department. These things make it more likely to do some impulse spending.
- The image of freshness
Most supermarkets mist their fruit and vegetables, because humans like shiny things. Those mist machines are only their to make your brain think it looks fresh and more valuable than it actually is.
- Lowering speed
Supermarkets don't want you zooming through the shelves. They want you to go as slow as possible, so they put slow music on. It helps and if you walk slowly the more items you see, the more you will buy.
- Basics in the back
If you only go to the supermarket for milk, you will see yourself back with a lot more items. That is because they put the basic product, such as milk, in the back of the store. You have to cross all the high mark-up produce, endcap sales, etc. At the end, you return with a lot more. It is good to make a list before you go.
They try as hard as possible to trick you by a supermarket tweak, but if you are careful and you pay attention, you won't be fooled!
